Why we fail when it comes to our health, Part 1

7 min read time Sep 17, 2020

Description

The answer to this question can be summed up in one simple word: complexity.

Based on the fast-paced lifestyle most people live today, success (with regards to our health) is often not attainable while using a complex program.

The fact is, there are too many distractions that we allow ourselves to get caught up in today's modern society. We are all guilty of this and need to take responsibility for our actions- it is much easier for us to succeed if were are given actions that are ‘basic, yet comprehensive’ to bring us back to health.

This fast-paced lifestyle and all the excitement that surrounds us often leave us overstimulated both mentally and physically. This state of overstimulation can unconsciously make us vulnerable to influences that involve our emotions. When left in this imbalanced state of mind not only are you less capable of making good choices but your mind and emotions are not in a calm state to allow simplicity to resonate.

Most often when we add something too demanding to an already fast-paced lifestyle, we are setting ourselves up for failure. The good news is, you don’t need a complex program to be well. Most often, the more complex the program the less effective it tends to be. When we allow things to become too complex...bigger, faster, more... it is not necessarily better. It actually may confuse the body. Start off basic and you can never go wrong.

It is very common that the majority of people start something new with great enthusiasm, but are often unclear of what they are up against-even though their intentions are good. This is why doing your own research is so important. Only with proper information can you make an informed decision. There are several places where failure is most common.

First, most people have unrealistic expectations in regards to a time-frame of getting well. Next, is a lack of understanding of the principles behind their personal healing crisis. Everyone has a different experience of a healing crisis. It is your individual body’s way of producing a state of balance in order to allow the body to heal itself. Because healing is not a linear progression, there are going to be lots of ups and downs with plenty of bumps in the road. There is no perfect map to reach the pot of gold at the end of the tunnel. The best thing you can do is expect the unexpected. This is most often what scares people. Their fear or lack of understanding of the unknown and what is happening to them, their bodies, their minds, their lives-causes a state of panic.

While many parts of the healing crisis are unpredictable, by doing your research you will be better educated about the possibilities of what may happen during this healing process so you can minimize the panic and confusion, thereby, having a better sense of control to be more at peace with this process. This will lead to better decision-making skills and not turning the reins of responsibility over to your health care provider.

When you let your body heal naturally, there is no One-Size-Fits-All, like we are used to in the Allopathic, Western medicine world. It is a dynamic situation - it is different for every single person; this is reflected in the amount of time it takes to heal, as well. Therefore the amount of time to heal different manifestations varies greatly from person to person. We live in a time where everything is about instant gratification. No one has to wait because they don’t want to and in many cases don’t have to. We live in a world where you click a button and you have it the next day or you take a pill and feel it in 30 min or less. Most people believe that it is okay to have very unrealistic expectations on our minds and bodies and this is a big reason why so many quit or fail programs.

What makes this way of living so dangerous is that it almost entirely eliminates the learning process and one of the great qualities that go along with this process……. Patience!.

Can our core values have an effect on our health?

Everything you have read up to this point and going forward will have very little personal meaning to you if you don’t take the time to figure out what are your core values. They help to define who we are and what we believe in.

There is no right or wrong ideas when figuring this out. This is simply about what resonates with you as a being. If you don’t know what is truly important to you and are not clear about your core values then you will most likely pay a price for bad choices and decisions you make on a daily basis. If this is the case, then an important concept you may want to explore is understanding why you don’t know what your core values are. There are many reasons why this may be the case, but, you may find that every avenue you search will lead you to the same conclusion.

Our parents raised us to believe in the same values that they were taught to believe. As you grew up and developed your own way of thinking and your own values, you may have felt a level of conflict. This feeling of conflict may happen because it may go against what you were taught to believe and that is often a very hard pattern to break. When you are taught by people who love and care about you it affects you on a much deeper level than if taught by someone you have no emotional connection too. This is a very important crossroad for you as by developing and realizing what your values are, you become your own person and begin to live a truly authentic life.  All decisions you make in your life will surround your core values and it will never serve you in a positive way to force a decision to fit within your value system. This way of thinking will only take you further away from your core values and your goals.

When you are living life in line with your core values you should feel a level of contentment. Committing to those core values gives you that strength to have greater control. This, in turn, will allow less conflict between different aspects of your life allowing consistent forward movement towards a goal and living with little to no regrets. These are all signs that you are living an authentic life with properly aligned values.

What are you currently spending most of your time on? If the things you spend your time on daily are not in line with your value system then you need to think about why you brought that into your life. This may be the case for most based on inherited old patterns which are hard to break. It is not uncommon that when we are unsure of what direction to go in, we revert back to old ways. This lack of self-awareness is exactly why so few people do not know their true core values and live an authentic life.

If it is important, then it should fit into your core value system.

If you are someone who has yet to have figured out what your value system is then all you need to do is figure out what is important to you and decide the value that brings to your life and goals. Because you are going to base all your life decisions off of these values there should be no gap between the two. This is called living your life with integrity. Over time, what is important to you may change. This is perfectly normal, as long as you make the proper shift to align the time you spend on a daily basis focusing on these new values.

Take Responsibility

Although not easy to admit for some, our health issues didn’t happen overnight. In order to regain and restore our health, we need to examine what patterns in our past, that are not advantageous to us. How we have accumulated habits which make us toxic: whether physical, emotional or spiritual.

People naturally prefer when things are easy. This is the main reason people continue to do the same old things in the first place. It is hard to stop! The healing process can only begin when we start to acknowledge the patterns and take responsibility for the actions/or lack of action, that we have taken. Look around you at all the people you know with chronic issues and think about the conversations you have had with them. Do any of them take responsibility for what they did to themselves or do they blame everyone and everything around them? The real question is do any of them ever get well?

If you want to achieve optimal health it is best you take your time, observe and embrace the changes you are going through, and be grateful for being part of the learning process. Remember, it is not the best athlete that always wins the race, it is the smartest.
